Job description

About us

Rentman is a B2B SaaS scaleup, building a smart, powerful operations management platform for event and production teams. Our users plan everything from small shoots to massive festivals in 70+ countries — and they all rely on Rentman to keep their gear, people, and timing perfectly in sync. Check out our public roadmap to see what’s coming next.

We’re based in Utrecht (NL) with a second office in Toronto (CA), and our team includes 100+ people from 30+ nationalities. We work in English, and our culture is open, inclusive, and flat — built on curiosity, ownership, and the freedom to challenge ideas.

Mission of this role

We’re looking for a developer who can take ownership of our internal tooling. You’ll make it more reliable, scalable, and easier to use, ensuring we can keep growing without the chaos. Alongside this, you’ll work on native development for our RFID scanners and ports – an exciting area that’s just getting started but will become an important part of our product offering.

What you’ll do

  • Own and maintain our internal admin panel, a full-stack application (database, backend, frontend) used for managing our customers, subscriptions and financials

  • Tackle urgent audit-driven tasks to keep us compliant, while planning for long-term improvements and scalability.

  • Work on native development for hardware devices like RFID scanners and ports, including firmware-level programming.

  • Manage your own backlog, prioritising effectively between immediate needs and long-term cleanups.

  • Collaborate with teams across the company (financial, support, and our independent hardware branch, Geartracking), while reporting directly to Simon (CTO) initially.

  • Make pragmatic “make-or-buy” decisions for tooling where needed.

Why this role?

  • Impact you can see – Your work will directly improve daily workflows for colleagues.

  • Variety – Switch between internal tooling, native hardware development, and operational improvements.

  • Ownership – You run your backlog, make decisions, and shape the future of our internal tooling landscape.

  • Work closely with leadership on projects that matter, including hardware initiatives close to the CEO’s heart.

  • No endless meetings – Just clear priorities, fast decisions, and a small team that moves quickly.

Job requirements

Essential attributes to be a successful Fullstack Developer-internal tooling

  • A pragmatic full-stack developer, comfortable with PHP and backend/frontend development.

  • Experience with Git and Docker.

  • Curious about native development, with experience or interest in firmware or hardware device integrations.

  • Someone who prefers working software over perfect software and understands internal users’ needs.

  • Able to work independently, structure your own work, and communicate clearly with stakeholders.

  • Comfortable in a small, sometimes chaotic environment where priorities shift, and you have to adapt.

  • Based in the Netherlands, with at least three years of relevant development experience.

    Bonus points for

  • Experience with software development for hardware devices

  • A background or interest in data engineering and tooling.

  • Experience working in smaller teams where you wear multiple hats.

  • Familiarity with managing and improving internal admin tooling landscapes.

What you’ll get

  • An ambitious, inclusive, diverse international team.

  • A “13th month” annual bonus based on company results.

  • 25 days of paid vacation, plus one extra day off each year up to your 5th anniversary.

  • A paid 4-week sabbatical after 5 years to go on an adventure.

  • Flexible WFH policy & work from anywhere for 4 weeks a year.

  • A shiny Windows, Linux or Mac of your choice.

  • An Annual training budget to boost your skills.

  • A pension plan via BrightPension.

  • Access to OpenUp for mental well-being and personal growth.

  • Sports activities (Rentman football team, squash and padel) and a fitness subscription.

  • An OV Business card when >10km away from the office.

  • An amazing office in the heart of Utrecht, Netherlands, at the historical Drift 17.
