Mission of this role

For this role, your mission is to design and build the internal systems that keep Rentman running smoothly as we scale. From customer and financial tooling to data-driven applications, you’ll empower teams across the business to work smarter, automate repetitive tasks, and make better decisions based on accurate, accessible data. You’ll play a key role in shaping a new Data team—bringing ideas, driving technical decisions, and delivering tools that make a real impact on how Rentman operates every day. You will be the first ever developer in this team! 

What you’ll do

• Design, build, and maintain internal tools and systems critical to Rentman’s operations (customer management, invoicing, data sync, data warehouse)

• Make build-or-buy decisions and oversee implementation of new internal tools

• Collaborate across teams—engineering, customer success, finance—to deliver scalable, effective solutions

• Build clean, maintainable frontend and backend code (PHP, Python, SQL)

• Design integrations between systems to reduce manual work and improve data accuracy

• Stay curious—explore how emerging AI tools can optimize internal workflows

Stack

Rentman is a modern cloud-based web application, relied on daily by users to manage equipment and access data on the go. While you’ll be working primarily on our internal tooling, we expect the stack to align closely with our main SaaS platform: modern PHP, Python, MySQL, and some Angular/TypeScript for frontend work. But, this is a new team so you’ll have influence over tooling and tech choices, though we already have GCP, Mage, Bigquery & DBT for Data Architecture! This is an exciting opportunity to help establish processes and systems from the ground up. Methodology
For your role, in the brand new Data team, that structure is still being shaped - which means you’ll help design how we work. Our dev teams follow Scrum with two-week sprints and weekly releases. For you, you’ll be collaborating directly with Simon (CTO), Onno (Head of Development), and Arthur (Data Engineer) and our new Data Analyst to build a methodology that works for the new team.

Essential attributes to be a successful Fullstack Developer for our new Data team at Rentman

We’re looking for an inspiring team member and self-starter—someone who brings curiosity, ownership, and an entrepreneurial mindset to help shape a brand-new team within Rentman. You stay current with the latest technologies and enjoy solving real problems, collaboratively. 

• Motivated by solving data-driven problems and designing robust internal tools, with curiosity for working with data models and learning about data engineering concepts to streamline operations.

• Exposure to PHP and/or Python (comfortable working across the stack)

• Solid SQL skills—comfortable working with data models and relational databases

• Entrepreneurial spirit—you’ll help build this team from the ground up, taking projects A-Z, sometimes autonomously (with support from a larger dev team of 25)

• Scalability mindset—not just writing scalable code, but improving processes and helping the company scale

• Solid foundation in computer science – an academic background in computer science or similar (bachelor/master)

• A personality that thrives at Rentman: ownership-driven, collaborative, curious, and motivated by solving complex problems—together.
   
  

Nice-to-have attributes to make you a perfect match for the Fullstack Developer position

• Infra/cloud experience (AWS or GCP)

• Awareness of and interest in AI/ML applications

• Experience in the event/media production industry

• Experience with SPA frameworks like Angular or React

• Strong frontend development skills (beyond basic UI tweaks)

• Experience in a B2B SaaS environment
